I can no longer add yeast to the recipes. When I click on the link to select a yeast, the list appears as expected. But when I click OK after selecting the yeast stain desired, the recipe isn't updated and the yeast does not appear.

Seems like it's been a while since there were changes to the site. Real life can be a big burden.

Anyway, I wanted to make two feature requests: first, can we add teaspoon and tablespoon as a unit of measurement for adjuncts and second can we add a feature to export all of my recipes in one shot as a backup method?

Thanks,
Guy

Hi there,

Those are definitely good suggestions and things that are already on the list of things to do when I eventually get back to working on this site. Not much has happened in the last year or so due to other commitments but I do plan to get back here eventually to make improvements.

However, printing already works pretty well. There isn't specifically a print button, but if you print from your browser it should come out quite nicely.

1st let me say that Brewtility is awsome, I see that someone else already suggested printing recipes. I have two suggestions, 1st comes to hop additions - would it be possible to just type in the time used instead of having to constantly click the up/down arrow. And 2nd is grains......it would be nice to have a feature to add grains to the DB, I have been getting my grain from a maltster in colorado and sometimes I order grains from other sources that aren't in the listing.

Cheers!

I've just been told on Ratebeer forum by a knowledgeable person that I, in fact, did NOT brew a LA beer since it can't be done by merely heating it to 180f for 2 hours. He said that a brewing expert told him this. I believe I did though since alcohol boils off at 180f and the beer has no buzz effect at all. Next time I'll do it more scientifically.

I just brewed a low alcohol stout using the heating method and it didn't hurt the beer in any way other than reducing the alcohol %. My guess is that it is less than 1% and still tastes great. (See my recipe for it in the recipes section.)

Hi there..Donross in particular...did you ever get that Beer Bug recipe?
It came up in conversation tonight..we had one many years ago that was given to us but it produced so much beer we couldn't drink a flagon a day(that how much it made)!
We have never come across another so would be so glad if you could share IF you managed to track one down.
Cheers

I grow hops and have tried wet hopping. The trick is to use double the ounces since hops lose about 1/2 their weight in the drying process. Only down side is you never quite know what your IBU is going to be since the hops are not tested. Makes for a nice flavor though.

I was going for a light colored roggen beer and picked out my ingredients which was supposed to include 2 pounds of rye flakes. Well, after I had everything in the mashtun, I discovered that I had added flaked barley instead! Holy protein, Batman! That changed my whole recipe. I decided that I was going to brew an English bitter instead. At least the dark malts would cover up any protein haze. So, I simmered some crystal and chocolate malts in water for 20 minutes and added to the brew pot. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I just installed firefox 3.6 a few minutes ago. I tried changing my default settings and the same issue occurs. I tried both with clicking on save and w/o clicking on save and the preferences were not saved upon closing and reopening the browser. So this is not browser specific.

I've tried not saving my personal settings but when I restart my browser, the settings revert to the defaults. I'm wondering if there is a problem with cookies not being recorded correctly. Also, I'm using safari as my browser. Hope this helps.

Ah, thanks for the extra bits of info there BrewMax. I'll see if I can repeat the behavior you described and fix it.

Hi. First off, let me say how much I love this website. I has allowed me to start formulating my own recipes and start my creative obsession of beer. I have encountered a small glitch though. My preferences are not saved when I quit my browser even though I click on the save button. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.
I had to reset my preferences also, but once I did that and made a blank recipe, my choices were displayed. If you then go back to the preferences page, the default values will once again be displayed. Simply don't save the page if you don't want your values to revert back.

I only changed the default batch size from 6 gal to 5.5, the default efficiency from 70 to 75 and the IBU calculation method from rager to tinseth. But all three of those are reset when I quit my browser and reopen it.

Hi,

Glad you're enjoying the site. Development has slowed down on it this year as I've been bogged down in other projects but I still hope to get back and make some great improvements soon.

As far as I can tell the preferences are working correctly. Do you know if it is all preferences that aren't being saved for you or just certain ones?
